OutlookConfig 1.0 Release Notes =============================== 14 December 2004 Usage ----- OutlookConfig 1.0 is freeware and can be used, distributed, decompiled and reverse-engineered without limitation. Use it at your own risk. No guarantee or support is given whatsoever. If you have suggestions, though, you can send me an e-mail to freestuff@verdewek.com. Setup ----- OutlookConfig 1.0 is a .NET 1.1 application, and therefore you need the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 installed on your machine in order to run it. If you don't have the .NET Framework, you can download it for free from Microsoft's website. OutlookConfig 1.0 has been designed to work with Microsoft Office Outlook 2003. It will use the default e-mail profile, and there is no way around this. I haven't tested OutlookConfig with other versions of Outlook. To install OutlookConfig 1.0, just drop the executable in any folder of your choice and run it. If you have downloaded the optional .manifest file, make sure it is in the same folder as the executable. OutlookConfig 1.0 will create an .xml file to store the configurations that you define in the same folder where the executable resides. Make sure that you have write access to this folder. To uninstall OutlookConfig 1.0, just delete it (plus the .manifest file if you have it, and the .xml data file) from the folder. Functionality ------------- OutlookConfig 1.0 helps you change Outlook's SMTP server settings as you move your laptop from one place to another. If you use different Internet access providers to access the Internet from different locations (work, home, hotel, etc.), you may need to use different SMTP servers for each access provider. You may also probably have multiple e-mail accounts, and changing the SMTP server settings for each of them as you roam from site to site is extremely inconvenient. OutlookConfig 1.0 helps you do this by storing named "configurations" that can be applied at any moment. When you apply a configuration, the settings associated with it are passed on to Outlook. To change the settings, you just apply a different configuration. You can create configurations and populate them with e-mail accounts. For each e-mail account, you can specify the SMTP server to use. You can also edit configurations or delete them. Configurations are stored in an .xml file in the same folder where the OutlookConfig 1.0 executable can be found. Make sure that Outlook is not running when you apply a configuration. If Outlook is running, it may not receive the new settings. User Interface Reference ------------------------ Main Window ----------- - Current Configuration combo box.
